PRO-ARMM Joins Operation-Linis of Water Hyacinth at Rio Grande de Mindanao

 
Police Chief Superintendent Bienvenido Latag, Regional Director of Police Regional Office, Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM) had ordered PSSUPT Marcelo Pintac, Provincial Director of Maguindanao Police Provincial Office (MPPO) to conduct Operation-Linis for the removal of water Hyacinth that smother the Rio Grande De Mindanao particularly at Quirino Bridge to avoid over flooding at Cotabato City and Sultan kudarat Maguindanao on June 17, 2011 up to the present.
 
 
PSSUPT Pintac, together with the elements from 2nd Manuever Platoon headed by PINSP Rae Charles Enrile , 3rd Maneuver Platoon lead by PINSP Ephraem Paguyod and Sultan Kudarat MPS lead by PINSP Tongan Namla went to the area to help clear  the Water Hyacinth which alleviated the water level at Rio Grande de Mindanao that caused flooding in Cotabato City and Sultan Kudarat Municipality.
 
Secretary Jesse Robredo of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) had also visited the area to personally evaluate the situation with the local government units of Cotabato City and Sultan kudarat Maguindanao that same date.
 
He arrived at the site together with Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu, afterwhich he convened with Congresswoman Bai Sandra Sema ( 1st District of Maguindanao with Cot. City), Mayor Japal Guiani Jr. (Cotabato City), Mayor Tucao Mastura (Sultan Kudarat), Gen. Rey C. Ardo of 6th ID and Provincial Director of Maguindanao PSSUPT Marcelo Pintac to discussed the problems of the area and have formulated recommendations for the possible solutions to the water flooding of Sultan Kudarat and Cotabato City.
 
Accordingly,in Maguindanao Province alone, a total of Six (6) municipalities were submerged in flashfloods namely: Sultan sa Barongis, Datu Montawal, Sultan Mastura, Pagalungan, Salipada K Pendatun and Kabuntalan wherein it severely affected 78 barangays and a total of 23,542 families evacuated.
 
“While the typhoon is not yet leaving our AOR, all PNP troops under our command are all ready for deployment in case emergencies would arise,” PCSUPT Latag said.
